Family dinner table

We used to have a overall shape dinner table. It's pretty big and long. Kids often fight about where to sit. I have my designated seat, the head of the table which is closer to the stove, microwave so I can keep working on the dishes as my family eat. Everybody is jealous of my seat, not realizing how many interruptions I have to endure each meal. I was getting tired of the arguments from the kids so I decided to shrink the table to a smaller round table. It produced unexpected result. The kids no longer fight and we are sitting much closer to have our family meal. We are enjoying each other more, not always out of choice, but it works.
